ESMO WCGIC 2023 | Using immunotherapy to treat anal cancer

Sheela Rao, MBBS, FRCP, MD (Res), Royal Marsden Hospital, London, UK, discusses research into immunotherapy for anal cancer. Trials researching the effects of chemoradiotherapy alongside immunotherapy are currently ongoing, and a trial is presently investigating this in an adjuvant setting following chemoradiation. In the advanced setting, there has been a single negative study; however, two large Phase III trials will be reporting results in 2024. This interview took place at the ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer (WCGIC) 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
