Cathy Eng, MD, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Nashville, TN, provides an overview of adverse events reported in the the FRESCO (NCT02314819) and FRESCO-2 (NCT04322539) trials, which assessed fruquintinib in patients with refractory metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). In addition to hypertension, which is commonly associated with VEGF inhibitors, asthenia and skin reactions were reported. In both trials, approximately a quarter of patients had a dose reduction, and Dr Eng emphasizes the need to communicate these side effects with patients. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
