ASCO 2024 | GIANT: chemotherapy regimens in elderly patients with mPDAC

Efrat Dotan, MD, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA, explores the Phase II GIANT trial (NCT04233866), which investigated the best treatment strategy for vulnerable older adults (≥70 years) with newly diagnosed metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (mPDAC). Patients received either gemcitabine with nab-paclitaxel or 5-fluorouracil with leucovorin and liposomal irinotecan. Results revealed no significant difference in overall survival between the regimens, providing critical data to inform treatment choices for this vulnerable group. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
