ASCO GI 2025 | Understanding treatment approaches for older patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer

Efrat Dotan, MD, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA, highlights the unique challenges metastatic pancreatic cancer present for older patients, who face additional burdens from comorbidities, functional decline, cognitive impairment, and limited social support. These vulnerabilities need to be addressed at baseline before starting chemotherapy, potentially reducing adverse effects and improving treatment tolerance. Applying these principles to gastrointestinal cancers could significantly enhance patient management and overall survival. This interview took place at the ASCO GI Cancers Symposium 2025 in San Francisco, CA.
