Wenxin Xu, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses findings from the Phase III CLEAR (NCT02811861) and KEYNOTE-426 (NCT02853331) trials, which assessed lenvatinib with pembrolizumab and axitinib with pembrolizumab in patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma (aRCC) respectively. A biomarker analyses of both trials established that PD-L1 and certain genetic mutations did not differentiate patients who will benefit more from combination therapy. However, certain transcriptomic signatures are correlated with clinical outcomes. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
