Igor Puzanov, MD, MSCI, FACP, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY, comments on the NADINA trial (NCT04949113) that builds on previous research conducted in Europe and Australia. In the Netherlands, extensive investigation into neoadjuvant melanoma therapies for macroscopic stage III patients has been ongoing. Administering two low doses of nivolumab and ipilimumab results in complete response in half of the patients, and subsequent surgical removal of a sentinel lymph node following treatment eliminates the need for further surgery or adjuvant therapy. In the PRADO study using the same patients from the OpACIN-neo trial (NCT02977052), non-responsive patients receiving one year of nivolumab post-surgery showed improved disease recovery outcomes. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
