ESMO 2024 | NIFTY and NALIRICC: Nal-IRI and 5-FU/LV in pre-treated biliary tract cancer

Changhoon Yoo, MD, PhD, Asan Medical Center, Seoul, Korea, explores the pooled analysis of the NIFTY and NALIRICC trials (NCT03464968, NCT03542508) evaluating nanoliposomal irinotecan (Nal-IRI) plus 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and leucovorin (LV) as a second-line therapy for biliary tract cancer (BTC) following gemcitabine-based progression. Patients receiving the investigational therapy had better overall survival, but differences in safety profiles across ethnicities highlight the need for personalized treatment approaches in this patient population. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
