WCLC 2024 | The emerging role of biomarker testing in the management of lung cancer
Matthew Smeltzer, PhD, University of Memphis, Memphis, TN, discusses findings from the 2024 International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) global survey on biomarker testing for lung cancer, following up on a 2018 study. Over the past few years, biomarker testing has become a staple in lung cancer management. Significant improvements in testing rates were reported but reveals persistent barriers such as cost, turnaround time, sample quality, and limited access, particularly in low/middle-income countries. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
