ASCO 2024 | Overview of the disparities in detection of early lung cancer and how we can bridge them

Matthew Smeltzer, PhD, The University of Memphis, Memphis, TN discusses the disparities in detection of early lung cancer and how we can bridge them. First, the criteria used for screening eligibility can create sex-based and race-based disparities. Second, there are disparities in who gets screened from those who are eligible. It is therefore important to create accessible and fair criteria, and to better educate patients about screening. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
