Bjørn Henning Grønberg, MD, PhD, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, discusses a Phase II trial (NCT02041845) exploring whether severe esophagitis during twice-daily thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) in limited-stage small-cell lung cancer (LS SCLC) affects long-term outcomes. Results showed no significant differences in progression-free survival (PFS) or overall survival (OS) between patients with or without severe esophagitis, suggesting that concerns over esophagitis should not hinder the implementation of higher-dose radiotherapy. This interview took place at the 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in San Diego, CA.
