Piotr Rutkowski, MD, PhD, Maria Sklodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Centre and Institute of Oncology, Warsaw, Poland, comments on a study assessing immunological and molecular characteristics of chondrosarcoma to correlate them with clinical outcomes. The study identified three distinct immunophenotypes (“cold,” “hot,” and “intermediate”) and common mutations, including IDH1/2 and TP53. These insights suggest that immunotherapy and IDH inhibitors could offer clinical benefit for patients with specific chondrosarcoma profiles. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
