ESMO 2024 | Evaluating Akkermansia muciniphila as a biomarker of response in lung cancer
Lorenzo Belluomini, PhD, University of Verona, Verona, Italy, comments on the significance of stool and blood Akkermansia muciniphila (Akk) abundance as a biomarker for checkpoint inhibitor response in lung cancer. Patients were grouped based on Akk abundance (Akk high, low or zero) and a higher proportion of progressive disease was found in patients with Akk high or zero abundance. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
