ESMO 2024 | The role of STING agonists in cancer immunotherapy
Jason Luke, MD, FACP, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Pittsburgh, PA, gives an overview of the development of STING agonists for cancer treatment. Preclinical studies in mice demonstrated strong anti-tumor effects by agonizing STING, prompting the exploration of STING agonists in patients with cancer. Early trials with intratumoral delivery showed promising results, but further research has shifted to intravenous delivery to target systemic tumors, with clinical applications now underway. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
