ESMO 2024 | Evolving treatment paradigms in metastatic breast cancer
Sara Tolaney, MD, MPH, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, assesses the evolving treatment landscape for metastatic breast cancer, focusing on the rise of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) such as trastuzumab deruxtecan and sacituzumab govitecan, as well as emerging ADCs, like disitamab vedotin and patritumab deruxtecan. Additional advances include immunotherapies in triple-negative breast cancer, AKT inhibitors in HR+ disease. New combination strategies involving oral SERDs and mutant-selective PI3K inhibitors have also been assessed in the INAVO120 trial (NCT04191499). This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
