Qiyuan Bao, MD, PhD, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China, discusses two major insights from the Phase II PROACH study (NCT03742193). The first emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach involving both surgical and medical oncologists to enhance outcomes for osteosarcoma patients. The second highlights the use of apatinib, a selective tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), in peri-operative settings. This allows for flexible drug management, minimizing surgical complications and maximizing patient benefit while ensuring manageable toxicity levels. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
