Wolfgang Janni, MD, PhD, University of Ulm, Ulm, Germany, comments on the role of circulating tumor (ctDNA) in screening and monitoring early breast cancer. Whilst screening for early breast cancer is a complex topic that is still far from being fully developed, screening for persistent disease in breast cancer survivors is getting closer to becoming a clinical practice. ctDNA also has potential for monitoring persistent disease, which is already being explored in clinical settings. This interview took place at the 2025 St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Consensus Meeting in Vienna, Austria.
