EAU 2025 | How can we make theranostics more accessible to everyone?

Mike Sathekge, MBChB, University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa, discusses strategies to increase accessibility of theranostics to low and middle-income countries. Collaborating with multilateral institutions, the pharmaceutical industry, and academia to conduct trials in diverse patient cohorts is important, as the heterogeneity of cancer and resistance make it challenging to study. Inclusive trials will not only advance our understanding of cancer hallmarks but also foster trust among high- and low-income countries to participate in trials, ultimately leading to more effective treatments. This interview took place at the 2025 European Association of Urology (EAU) Congress in Madrid, Spain.
