ESTRO 2026 | Which patients with kidney cancer may benefit from SABR treatment?

Shankar Siva, PhD, MBBS, FRANZCR, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Royal Hospital Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia, discusses which kidney cancer patients may be suitable for treatment with stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR), which is currently indicated for patients not eligible for or at high-risk from surgery. Prof. Siva also highlights patients with large or complex tumors, who may also benefit from the higher precision targeting that SABR allows. In the future, SABR could be used to avoid a radical or total nephrectomy in certain patients. This interview took place at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology 2026 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
