ELCC 2025 | How can we enhance outcomes in SCLC with chemoradiotherapy?

Bjorn Henning Gronberg, MD, PhD, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, comments on optimizing chemoradiotherapy in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), highlighting the importance of combining chemoradiotherapy with additional systemic treatments. Adding immunotherapy to chemoradiotherapy has shown improved survival in extensive-stage SCLC, but the benefit is smaller than expected, leading to trials exploring the addition of thoracic radiotherapy to chemo-immunotherapy. Randomized trials are needed to assess the benefits and optimal timing of thoracic radiotherapy. This interview took place at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2025 in Paris, France.
