ASCO 2025 | Analyzing the findings of the SERENA-6 trial and its implications in the clinic

Michael Gnant, MD, FACS, Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria, comments on the Phase III SERENA-6 trial (NCT04964934) of camizestrant with CDK4/6 inhibitors during first-line endocrine-based therapy in HR+/HER2- breast cancer. The trial showed the benefits of using circulating tumor ctDNA (ctDNA) to guide treatment changes. However, unanswered questions remain in terms of overall survival benefit and financial toxicity concerns. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
