ASCO 2025 | The future of targeting HRR genes in prostate cancer

Stefanie Zschaebitz, Heidelberg University Hospital, Heidelberg, Germany, comments on the significance of results from the homologous recombination repair (HRR)-deficient cohort of the TALAPRO-2 trial (NCT03395197). The findings have the potential to expand clinicians’ understanding of HRR deficiency beyond the BRCA1 and BRCA2 populations. Additional notable trials recruiting patients with HRR gene-altered prostate cancer include the AMPLITUDE (NCT04497844) and EvoPAR-Prostate01 (NCT06120491) trials. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.

So I think those results are interesting in terms of that we will see the AMPLITUDE data tomorrow. Also like HRR deficient tumor samples that met patients, enabled patients to join the study. We will see the TALAPRO-3  data in mHSPC, which will not be at this conference, but data will be shown at a further conference. And there’s also the EvoPAR study. So a lot of studies going on with all cameras, HRR. HRR is differently defined within those trials. But I think that is very interesting, so that we should not focus on the BRCA1, BRCA2 only population.
