ESMO 2025 | CheckMate 274: 5-year results of adjuvant nivolumab in MIUC

Clara Steiner, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA & University Hospital Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, gives an overview of updated 5-year results from the Phase III CheckMate 274 trial (NCT02632409), comparing adjuvant nivolumab versus placebo in patients with high-risk muscle-invasive urothelial carcinoma (MIUC) after radical surgery. Sustained improvements in disease-free, overall, and disease-specific survival were observed with nivolumab, with no new safety concerns. Exploratory circulating tumor (ctDNA) analysis suggested greater benefit in ctDNA-positive patients, further supporting adjuvant nivolumab as a standard of care in this setting. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2025 Congress in Berlin, Germany.
