Moh’d Khushman, MD, Washington University, St. Louis, MO, explores key takeaways from the ASCO 2026 Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium, including results from the HERIZON-GEA-01 trial (NCT05152147) which evaluated zanidatamab with chemotherapy ± tislelizumab for first-line (1L) HER2-positive (HER2+) locally advanced, unresectable, or metastatic gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma. In addition Dr Khushman discusses findings from the Phase II ILUSTRO trial (NCT03505320) of first-line zolbetuximab plus mFOLFOX6 and nivolumab in patients with CLDN18.2+ locally advanced unresectable or metastatic gastric or gastroesophageal junction (mG/GEJ) adenocarcinoma. In colorectal cancer, the BREAKWATER trial (NCT04607421) of encorafenib + cetuximab + FOLFIRI in BRAF V600E-mutant metastatic colorectal cancer, was shared at the meeting, which may represent a new potential standard of care for this patient population. This interview took place at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
