Mary-Ellen Taplin, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, provides insight into a sub study of the PROTEUS trial (NCT03767244) in which patients were randomized to proceed straight to surgery or receive neoadjuvant apalutamide and androgen-deprivation therapy. Prof. Taplin highlights ongoing biomarker work examining markers of response and resistance to inform future trials. In addition, future work will need to validate that the results found in the PROTEUS trial correlate with long-term endpoints including failure-free survival and progression-free survival. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
