WCLC 2026 | Lung cancer incidence in never-smoking Asian women with a family history of lung cancer

Michael Ou, MD, University of California, San Francisco, CA, shares insights into a prospective trial examining lung cancer incidence in never-smoking Asian women with a family history of lung cancer. 6% of patients were found to have a form of lung cancer, which represents a higher incidence than previously reported for this population. Other factors including second-hand smoke, indoor air pollution and environmental exposure can increase the risk of developing lung cancer, and capturing this information may help in ensuring patients in this population are not missed. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
