WCLC 2026 | Female sex associated with improved survival in patients with NSCLC treated with ALK TKIs

Hui Jing Hoe, MBBS, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses background and results from an individual pooled data analysis of six global randomized clinical trials examining sex disparities in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Female patients treated with TKIs showed an improved overall survival, as did patients younger than 50, female and using newer TKIs. Baseline brain metastatsis, non-adenocarcinoma histology or an ECOG performance status of two and above were associated with worse outcomes. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
