WCLC 2026 | AI-driven incidental pulmonary nodule program to increase lung cancer detection

Luis Raez, MD, FACP, FASCO, Memorial Cancer Institute, Pembroke Pines, FL, discusses an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven incidental pulmonary nodule program to increase lung cancer detection. The program checked routine scans for pulmonary nodules and patients with incidental findings were enrolled in the program for follow-up. Five times more lung cancers were found using the program than in the regular lung cancer screening program, including those who would not have qualified for screening. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
