ESMO 2026 | How can we optimize treatment sequencing for BRAF V600E-mutant NSCLC?

Charles Ricordel, MD, Rennes University Hospital, Rennes, France, comments on the potential factors to consider when deciding the optimal sequence of treatments in BRAF V600E-mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors, and notes that clinical parameters such as smoking status and TP53 mutation status may be relevant. Retrospective data may provide some insight, but further research is needed, including the ongoing ENCO-BRAF trial (NCT04526782), which may yield interesting results on the impact of TP53 mutation status. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
