ESMO 2026 | The need for context-sensitive endpoint frameworks beyond overall survival

Antonella Cardone, Cancer Patients Europe, Brussels, Belgium, discusses a multidisciplinary evaluation of when overall survival is insufficient as an oncology endpoint, drawing on regulatory and health technology assessment appraisals. Alternative endpoints can provide meaningful evidence where overall survival is immature or confounded, yet are interpreted differently across jurisdictions. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
