Daniel Goldstein, MD, Davidoff Center, Rabin Medical Center, Tel Aviv, Israel, comments on the impact of competition on drug prices in oncology, highlighting that similar drugs with comparable clinical benefits should drive prices down, but this is not currently the case. Dr Goldstein suggests that a tendering process, where healthcare payers negotiate with manufacturers to secure the cheapest price, could lead to reduced prices and greater sustainability for cancer care, citing the example of pembrolizumab and nivolumab. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
