Yelena Janjigian, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, compares the clinical and molecular features of early-onset versus average onset gastric, esophageal, and gastroesophageal junction cancer patients. The findings outline presenting symptoms, stage, histology, HER2, and MSI status as similar in patients with early-onset vs. average onset cancers. There is a trend in early-onset toward longer time to diagnosis, gastric primary site of disease, signet-ring histology, and fewer ARID1A and FBWX7 mutations.
