EAU 2021 | Surgery in metastatic germ cell tumors to reduce disease burden and improve long-term outcomes

Peter Albers, MD, University of Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf, Germany, gives an update on novel approaches to reducing disease burden in germ cell tumors, in particular highlighting long-term survival rates in patients with testicular cancer and long-term outcomes with regards to treatment-related adverse events. Prof. Albers discusses whether surgery in metastatic seminoma can be used to reduce disease burden, thus omitting the need for systemic treatment. This interview took place at the virtual European Association of Urology (EAU) Virtual Meeting 2021.
