NCRI 2016 | Smarter healthcare: cancer self-management framework

Penny Schofield, PhD of Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia talks about the cancer self-management. There is a rising number of people with cancer, partly due to the ageing population, but also thanks to better cancer treatments. With limited resources and funding it is crucial that the healthcare services start working smarter. Dr Schofield has developed a framework for effective, sustainable, and clinically feasible interventions that support patients in self-management throughout diagnosis, treatment, and into survivorship. Maximum patients benefit with a minimum use of resources can be achieved with e-technology, through remote resources like a phone or Internet, or community resources such as volunteer peers. Recorded at the 2016 National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Conference in Liverpool, UK.
