Academic History
Patrizia Giannatempo, MD, is a Medical Oncology Consultant at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, Italy. Dr Giannatempo obtained her medical degree from the University of Milan, Milan, Italy, and completed a clinical fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, UK. She worked initially at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori as a post-doctoral fellow in paediatric oncology and then as a resident in the genitourinary program.
Dr Giannatempo is a panel member of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Genito-urinary Group and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Consensus Conference on Testicular Germ Cell Cancer. She is an active member of ESMO, the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Italian Germ Cell Cancer Group (IGG), EORTC Genito-urinary Cancer Group, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the European Association of Urology (EAU).
Speaking on treatment of urothelial, testicular, and penile cancer
Dr Giannatempo has been a principal investigator for several academic and sponsored trials across genitourinary cancer. In urothelial carcinoma, she has been involved in studies evaluating targeted therapies, immunotherapy and chemotherapy and in germ cell cancers, she has investigated treatment optimization. Dr Giannatempo also has an interest in personalization of bladder cancer treatment and understanding the late effects of testicular, with ongoing projects in these areas.
