Ramon Salazar, MD, PhD, Institut Català D’Oncologia, Barcelona, Spain, discusses a post hoc analysis of the CR-SEQUENCE trial (EU CT: 2024-510967-41-00), which examined how the timing of primary tumor resection affects survival in patients with unresectable, left-sided, RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer treated with sequential EGFR and VEGF inhibitor-based regimens. Resection performed after initiating systemic therapy was linked to longer overall and progression-free survival compared with upfront or no resection, independent of treatment sequence. These hypothesis-generating findings support further prospective evaluation of induction therapy before surgery in selected patients. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
