ASCO 2024 | Addressing race and sex-based disparities in lung cancer screening eligibility

Matthew Smeltzer, PhD, The University of Memphis, Memphis, TN, discusses the impact of modified lung cancer screening (LCS) criteria on eligibility and disparities. The shift to 20 years reduced race and sex-based disparities while reaching socially disadvantaged groups, maintaining diagnostic efficiency. This suggests broader criteria improve access to LCS without compromising effectiveness. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
