Umberto Malapelle, PhD, University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, discusses two key gaps in liquid biopsy research. Technological limitations need to be overcome in order to analyse and integrate the different biological markers that can be found in liquid biopsy samples. Additionally, clinical validation of liquid biopsy as a monitoring tool is needed. This interview took place at the International Society of Liquid Biopsy (ISLB) 2022 congress in Miami, FL.
