David Baldwin, MD FRCP, Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham, UK, discusses the main strategies to implement cost-effective lung cancer screening. In September 2022, the UK National Screening Committee determined that annual CT screening for lung cancer was highly likely to be cost-effective for 55-80 year olds. Despite the organisation’s conclusion and the low cost of CT scanning in the UK, further analysis and real-world data is still crucial for determining the cost-effectiveness of the programme. Dr Baldwin proposes prompt scanning and reporting to make the screening process as efficient as possible, consequently ensuring a cost-effective procedure. This interview took place at the 2023 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) in Singapore, Singapore.
