ESMO 2024 | SUBITO: IACT vs conventional chemotherapy for HER2-, HRD breast cancer

Sabine Linn, MD, PhD, Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, Netherlands, discusses the results of the Phase III SUBITO trial (NCT02810743) of intensified alkylating chemotherapy with autologous stem cell rescue (IACT) or conventional chemotherapy followed by olaparib (CCT-O) in patients with stage III, HER2-negative, homologous recombination deficient (HRD) breast cancer. Both regimens showed similar 4-year overall survival rates, with no significant difference in recurrence-free survival or pathological complete response. Quality of life was also comparable between treatment arms. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
