GU Cancers 2022 | The challenges in treating renal cell carcinoma

Jen-Jane Liu, MD, Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, OR, discusses the challenges faced in the successful treatment of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The Phase III PROPSER (NCT03055013) trial evaluating nivolumab in patients with localized kidney cancer undergoing nephrectomy will provide essential results. Dr Liu emphasizes to overcome the challenges within the treatment of RCC, data-driven methods should be utilized to identify which patients will benefit from therapies as opposed to supplying the treatment to every patient. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Genitourinary Cancers Symposium 2022 in San Francisco, CA.
