ESMO WCGIC 2023 | The current state of robotic surgery for rectal cancer

Jim Khan, MD, PhD, FRCS, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, Portsmouth, UK, provides an overview of robotic surgery in rectal cancer. There has been great interest in robotic surgery in a wide variety of fields, including rectal cancer. However, there are currently limitations to their use, including in patients with a high BMI or low grade tumors. More trial data is, thus, required for more mainstream adoption of robotic surgery. This interview took place at the ESMO World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer (WCGIC) 2023 in Barcelona, Spain.
