John Maher, MD, King’s College London, London, UK, discusses progress of CAR-T solutions for solid tumors, noting that while success has been seen in hematological malignancies for over 15 years, progress in solid tumors has been slow. However, recent developments in local delivery approaches, such as infusing CAR T-cells directly into the central nervous system, have shown promising results, including rapid tumor shrinkage. Dr Maher remains optimistic about the potential of CAR-T therapy against solid tumors, citing improvements in manufacturing techniques and the development of better adaptor solutions. This interview took place at the EHA-EBMT 7th European CAR T-cell Meeting in Strasbourg, France.
