AACR 2022 | Challenges to implementing liquid biopsy in clinical practice

Catherine Alix-Panabieres, PhD, University Medical Center of Montpellier, Montpellier, France, outlines the main challenges for implementing liquid biopsy in clinical practice, including more standardization of procedures and the undertaking of more interventional clinical trials. So far, a French interventional trial has demonstrated the clinical utility of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in metastatic breast cancer. Moreover, more research is required to understand which circulating biomarkers can provide the correct information about a cancer. This interview took place at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2022 in New Orleans, LA.
