Hildur Helgadottir, MD, PhD, Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden, comments on recent findings from the Swedish Melanoma Registry, which tracks melanoma cases and mortality in various age groups. A significant decline in melanoma incidence among individuals younger than 50, peaking in 2015 and then declining. Contributing factors likely include national skin cancer awareness campaigns, reduced tanning device use, and advances in oncological treatments. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
