Antoni Vilaseca, MD, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, discusses the significance of FGFR mutations in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), highlighting that approximately 70% of patients with intermediate-risk disease and 40% of those with high-risk NMIBC harbor these alterations. Dr Vilaseca notes that while mutational testing is not currently routine in NMIBC, it is commonly performed in other cancers, including prostate cancer, and emphasizes the need for hospitals and laboratories to adapt to precision medicine approaches that are emerging in the NMIBC setting. This interview took place at the 41st Annual EAU Congress in London, UK.
