SITC 2023 | How can tumor alterations determine treatment approaches in cancer?

João Alessi, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, explains how his research on tumor alterations could influence clinical practice, trial design and treatment in the future. With several Phase III trials in progress evaluating combination immunotherapy approaches, Dr Alessi’s research highlights the unmet need to identify factors for patient selection. These works identify cell density and spatial distribution as promising indicators for guiding treatment intensity. This interview took place at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer’s (SITC) 38th Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA.
