BNOS 2022 | Selecting patients for preoperative extracranial imaging in glioblastoma

Simon Lammy, MBBS, MRCS (Ed), MFST (Ed), University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK, provides an overview of which patients with radiologically suspicious multiforme will benefit from receiving a extracranial computed tomography (CT) scan. Patients with high grade intrinsic primary brain tumors were analyzed and ones who were receiving surgery tend to have negative scans, whereas patients who were treated conservatively were more likely to have positive scans. Dr Lammy attributes this discrepancy to age and presence of comorbidities of patients who are treated conservatively. This interview took place at the British Neuro-Oncology Society (BNOS) Annual Meeting 2022.
