GI Malignancies Debate 2023 - Chicago | How can ctDNA analysis aid in the management of gastrointestinal cancers?

Suneel Kamath, MD, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, talks on the role of ctDNA analysis in the management of gastrointestinal cancers. Results from the Phase II DYNAMIC trial showed the benefits of using ctDNA analysis to predict risk of recurrence in patients with resected stage 2 colon cancer. The study reported that patients who were ctDNA-negative after resection had a low risk of recurrence and therefore could avoid undergoing adjuvant chemotherapy without negatively impacting outcomes. This was highly beneficial as these patients were able to avoid the toxicities associated with chemotherapy. Dr Kamath also highlights the potential of ctDNA analysis in screening programs, especially in younger populations. This interview took place at the Great Debates and Updates GI Malignancies Debate in Chicago, IL.
