ASCO 2024 | The future of ADCs in effectively treating colorectal cancer

Scott Kopetz, MD, PhD, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, discusses how the future role of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in colorectal cancer (CRC) will likely focus on achieving a balance between linker stability and efficacy. Given that microtubule agents have lower activity in CRC, as evidenced by the ineffectiveness of taxanes, there is a shift towards novel therapies. Emerging payloads, such as topoisomerase inhibitors, are becoming more common due to their demonstrated efficacy, similar to the historical use of irinotecan in CRC. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
