Alberto Briganti, MD, Vita-Salute University San Raffaele, Milan, Italy, discusses results from the Phase III PROTEUS substudy (NCT03767244), which compared perioperative apalutamide plus androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) with radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection alone in high-risk localized or locally advanced prostate cancer. The combination significantly improved event-free and metastasis-free survival and reduced the need for subsequent therapy, with a higher rate of severe adverse events. These findings support perioperative apalutamide plus ADT as a treatment of choice in this population. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2026 Congress in Madrid, Spain.
